Blue Canoe is operated by Nigel Frankcom trading as Blue Canoe.
This website is designed to collect as little information as practicable. It has no user accounts, contact forms, advertising, behavioural analytics or visitor profiling.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not currently set cookies or use local or session storage.
No cookie banner is shown because there are no cookies or equivalent tracking technologies to accept or reject. This notice will be updated before that changes.
Server logs
Like most internet services, the web server records limited technical information when it handles a request. This may include:
- the requested address;
- the date and time;
- the connecting IP address;
- the browser or client identifier;
- the response status; and
- technical information needed to operate and secure the service.
These records are used to diagnose faults, investigate abuse and maintain the security and reliability of the site. The lawful basis is Blue Canoe’s legitimate interest in operating and protecting its systems.
Logs are kept only for as long as they remain reasonably necessary for those purposes and are then removed through routine log rotation.
Searches performed in the search window are processed within the visitor’s browser. When the standalone search page is used, its query may appear in the requested URL and therefore in the server log.
If you contact Blue Canoe by email, the message will contain the address and information you choose to provide.
Correspondence is used to respond to the message and deal with any necessary follow-up. It is retained only while it remains relevant to that correspondence, or for longer where there is a legal or operational reason to retain it.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary.
Sharing
Personal information is not sold, used for advertising or shared for marketing.
Information may be disclosed where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect the service or establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights over personal information held about you, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction and objection.
